Hi everyone,

I have just had an email from Jason Baker and he informs me that he has only had TWO entries for the South Island Moto Trials Champs to be held in Blenheim on August 13th and 14th, if you intend riding this well organised event and would like trials to continue in New Zealand I suggest that you send your entries now. The Champs are being held at the end of Barracks Road, Omaka Valley, if you would like any more information can you please email Jason on trialsport1@xtra.co.nz

Entry to this event is now open and available online only

To those who are new to online entry I am writing a few simple procedures that should help. At this stage you will need a current MNZ licence. Online entry can be found on the MNZ website (www.mnz.co.nz). You will then need to login with a username & password. If you do not already have a username & password or if you have forgotten it, you will find an option at the bottom of the Online Entry page that reads “I DO NOW KNOW MY USERNAME OR PASSWORD”. Click on this option, complete the three details required (Full name, date of birth & email address) and you will be emailed back with a username and password.

Once you have logged in, you will then click on ‘enter event’ which will bring up another page listed with events to enter online. For this particular event choose ‘NZ Moto Trials Champs’.

Once there you will tick the appropriate grade [and leave the number box blank]

On this “page” you will also note that there is a “One Day Class” which we are making available to riders of any grade and on any day the ability to ride only one day at half price [$65]. [If you want to ride for only two days you will enter and pay as per the full 3 day event].

Also at bottom of this “page” is a “Comments” box which is where we would like you to explain any info that we need to know. For example if you wanted to ride on one day, tell us which day or if you qualify for a Junior entry fee but want to ride in higher grades you will then enter as a Junior and apply for a different class in the “comments” box.

We would also like to know how many supporters and ‘extras’   will be requiring prize giving meals and for catering purposes we would like you to indicate EXTRA meals required in “comments” box please.

When completed this page click ‘submit’   You will then tick the box that says that you agree to abide by MNZ rules.

Click ‘submit’ again

That will take you to the part where you will need your [or your Dads, Wife’s or friends] credit cards to pay your entry.

It helps with administration if you can make a separate entry for every rider. That is, if you are entering as a family, please make individual entries.

Your entry fee [including “One Day Riders”] this year includes a light dinner at prize giving in Pirongia at approximately 4.30 – 5.00pm on Monday evening.

“Extras” who have been identified as requiring a meal from the “comments” box from online entry will be given tickets at the event and asked to pay $25.00.

Accommodation has been booked by me and there are still plenty of beds available [@ $20 pp/night] but there are many who have indicated an interest and not yet confirmed. Could you please make a confirmation [and deposit] with me as soon as possible to help with administration and cash flow issues? Thank you.Keep watching www.hamiltonmcc.org.nz for info

Hi all,

Last time I wrote we were on our way to our 1st Italy indoor, most Italy indoors are held outside and are held in the town centre or a town car park. Start was 5:00pm and there were 20 riders that started and only the top ten go through to the semi. 1st up there are 4 sections to make the top ten. Jake just missed out by one point for the top ten. Then a two hour break and the top ten ride five harder sections as well as the race section that start’s 9:00 at night. Then the top four go to the final and the sections are made even harder. The next week Jake and I and TTT truck driver head for the 21 hour drive for the next world round in Spain.

Pits at Spain WTC

Practise area at the WTC, you have to fight to just have a practise with so many riders and a little area that you are allowed in

The round was held at a new trials park that has just been finished for only trials. With the section’s surrounding the pits and made up of grippy rocks and dusty climbs.  Jake finished with a good 15th placing. We then packed up on the Monday and head off for Andorra Tuesday morning. Midnight Tuesday we arrived to the WTC paddock and weren’t allowed to set up till Thursday morning so it was time for Jake and I to have a look around by foot.

Pits at Andorra

Friday we had the normal practise and walk the sections already for the euro round the next day. From walking the sections both Jake and I knew this was going to be the hardest WTC round by far. With not only the section’s full gas everywhere but to just do the lap there were area’s where even A Grade riders back home would of struggled to do the lap. So after two very hard days we were both already for the drive home to catch up on some rest. The following week we had Jake’s next indoor and as well I had to fill in for TTT top rider Jack Cholner as his minder.

Me minding for Jack Challoner at an Italy Indoor

I was looking forward to mind for such a world class rider and a night to remember. Jake had an excellent ride to make the top ten and just miss out on the top 4 for the final. To win in Italy you have to be a better rider than what they are as with the home advantage and language it is hard to win here. Jake finished a very good 8th and Jack came home with a close 2nd. Two days later we had the Italy WTC round and was the closest we were going to get to a home round over here. To date it was the best run round to date. With also Jake coming home with his best finish in the euro round with an excellent 5th. With also beating TTT top rider Jack for the 1st time. Jake also fished a very well 10th in the WTC round as sits just 7 points outside the top ten going into his last round in Scotland in two weeks. As I am writing this I am sitting in the middle of the next round of the Italy indoor why they are making all the sections which is to be held in 2 days’ time on the Thursday night. This time it is indoors, inside a big stadium. So both Jake and I am looking forward to this one and with making the top ten last time the goal is to make the final this time and go for the win. We have our last Italy race on Sunday and then a week of before we head to Scotland. So I will fill you in on all that in my last week here before returning back to NZ.

See you all soon.
Karl.

P.s since writing this Jake achieved a fantastic 3rd placing in the previous Indoor event, well done Jake!!

Hi Guys

A quick update on the Waimak practice area, I had an opportunity to get the use of a 23 tonne excavator and a 15 ton front end loader for yesterday and today complete with operators so in the spirit of being offered something for nothing I made a quick decision, “HELL YES” I got a heap of clay put on top of the main hill so it is now about 1 metre higher, I also got the area tidied up and more mounds put in for future work

This is a second major boost to the area, it is looking quite good now.

I have attached photos

Cheers Paul

Dear Pioneer Members and Friends
Next week we the "Belcher family" are returning to the UK, with the recent passing of Pauline's father and recent troubled times we have all been experiencing here in Christchurch we feel it’s the right time to move back. We are unfortunately here in NZ on our own and found it rather difficult.
We have been in New Zealand for 8 years and it was unfortunate that we only found the Pioneer Club in the latter years. Thanks to Stefan, (I don't think many pom's have thanked a German before) but if it had not been for him we would have not enjoyed our last couple of years as much. It has been fantastic being part of such a great Club that run great Trials. Finley is disappointed not to finish his first year in competition but have explained that he will have to learn a new skill on his Trials Bike in the UK, How to Queue, we are taking the TY back so he can get riding as soon as the container arrives. The Club in the UK has a great number of junior riders with 3 classes of their own. Recently I spoke to a friend back in Oxfordshire and they had over 30 riders at a training day on Wednesday Evening. I hope to get another bike, just wish I have a better run of luck with the injuries. We are sorry we were not able to get to the last couple of Trials and say a personnel goodbye, I intended, but the truck sold quicker than anticipated so we were without transport.
I have been looking at the results today and great to see Bradley, Billy and David, plus everyone else doing so well in the last couple of Trials, Next year will be interesting as we get back to the UK, Finley will have tough competition and if he continues to ride and improve as he has in the last year, it may not be long before he starts to ask for a new bike? Or can he go to Scotland for the 6-Day?
Best wishes to you all and thank you for being such a great sport and friendly group that will be dearly missed.
Stuart, Pauline, Finley and Amelia
