Hi All

Just confirming Sunday October 10th 9.00am start is all go to assemble our goodies and make the trials area into something useful.

Kate from Ecan has promised to feed and water us, Steve Hand is bringing his digger and truck, so all we need is people, spades, wheel barrows and lots of good ideas.

We still need a few things so if you know anyone who can help with following:

Small diameter concrete pipes or lamp posts

Anything in the way of culvert ends or water troughs to make obstacle starts and ends.

Roundish stones approx size from 150mm to 250mm in size would be great, at least one truck load would be a good start.

We also need at least 20 truckloads of good dirt to fill in the area and make up obstacles, earth quake silt is fine as long as it doesn’t have any poo contamination.

If there is anything else you want out there let me know and we will see what we can scrounge up.

The area is starting to look good, getting the machinery there will be a great help to kick it into shape.

Scotty will put updates on the web for and anything else.

Many hands make light work so the more people we get there the quicker we can put our tyre marks on it

If there is anyone not on the email list could you please forward it to them.

See you there

Cheers

Paul Delis

Thought some of you might be interested in seeing what the earthquake has done out at the Waimak. There is a full set of photos on the gallery page.

Hi All

I went down the Waimak river today for a ride and found some huge cracks and subsidence. Some of the cracks were 10 – 12 feet deep, amazing

The photos that look like shallow creeks are actual the land that has parted.

Cheers

Paul Delis

  To all Riders,

This letter is just to inform you that the next South Island Rounds 5 & 6 on the 13th & 14th November will be held just out of Motueka.  We suggest that you book your accommodation in this town.  The local Motueka Top 10 Holiday Park has offered a 10% discount off your accommodation if you book with them.  All you need to do is say that you are a “Moto Trials Rider” when making the booking, so please support this business as they are supporting us.  Make sure you book early to avoid disappointment as November can be quite busy for Motueka Township.  Here are their web site details: http://www.motuekatop10.co.nz/

The venue is to be held at Hickmotts property on the corner of Kaiteriteri turn off (see map attached), it is a 10 minute drive from the Top Ten Holiday Park as well as two garages on the way past for fuel and one pub J.  We have chosen this property as it has good spectator viewing and we expect a lot of spectators as it is on a scenic route to both the Able Tasman National Park and Golden Bay.  Due to other club commitments we were unable to hold this event any earlier and we apologise for any inconvenience that this may have caused, but we do know that the observers and riders will be happy to observe and ride in the sunny Able Tasman weather.  And also an excellent opportunity to promote our “Moto Trials” sport to the public.

Section Layout:
Sections will be consisted of five sections on rocks on the side of hills and five sections through flowing slippery creeks each day, a total of 10 sections x 4 laps per day.  A prize giving and BBQ will be held at the property after the event unless wet it will be held at the Motueka Top 10 Holiday Park.  We will advise this at briefing on the Sunday.

We are looking at organising a local club to come out for the event with food and beverages but we will confirm this with a follow up letter after we receive all entries.  Entries will close on the 3rd November 2010.  There is no meal organised for Saturday night as yet but we do recommend the local RSA as they do a good meal for value and is a two minute walk from the Motueka Top Ten Holiday Park.

Entries are to be sent to Craig Mills, the address is on the entry form attached.

Kind Regards

Following the devastating earthquake that hit Christchurch last Saturday morning, we have decided to cancel the working bee planned for the Waimak practice area this weekend. We feel it would be inappropriate to be spending energy on something like that when so many people are in need of assistance.

If there is anyone out there in the club who has suffered from the quake and could use some help with the clean up then get in touch. I'm sure those of us who have come through this unscathed will be more than willing to help out.

Hi All

I thought I would let you all know where the Trials Des Nations September 2011 plan is at!

As I have reported earlier, I came away from the MNZ AGM with enthusiasm after attending the included seminars [which you would have all benefited from]. I was encouraged by the fact that there are apparently a number of places were funds can be derived and our own MNZ is keen to facilitate this.

There is however, protocol, and the first step in the "road to Scotland" was to formulate a budget. This has been done and submitted to the board and I am awaiting approval [or not] to formulate a Team. It would be fair to say that the dollar number required to send 4 men, 2 women and 3 minder/managers was enough to make the President 'gasp' but we all understand that this size team should be considered the maximum that we would enter. It is likely that we will be asked to "prune" numbers [both rider and dollars] You may be interested to know that I budgeted for $55000 to cover travel, accommodation [for 2 weeks], insurance and bike hire [bike hire became more a calculated guess than an estimate].

I write this as there are those out there who will qualify as team members and it is only fair to tell where the plan is. Also, there are those who read this and may have some ideas re funding which will obviously be the area of most concern.

Let me know any thoughts.

Jim Henderson

The practice day planned for the 12th of September will now be held at the new Trials practice area on the north side of the Waimakariri River. If you follow the road upstream from the Old Bridge  a couple of Km's or so you will come to the area on the left of the road. The day will be mainly a working bee setting up the area with the Tyres, Concrete pipes etc. that Paul has scrounged up for us. We will have a couple of diggers or bobcats there to do all the heavy work (bring your own shovel or spade) and the council are going to put on a BBQ lunch for us. As a club it's important we put in a good show of numbers for this day, to show our appreciation at the generousity of the council and those that have donated time and goods towards this project. Those that attend will be rewarded with the first ride at the area.

See you all ther 9.30am Sunday 12th September.
